After having a meeting with Mr. Nouman Sheikh and having a group discussion about the most reasonalble milestones that can be achieved, we have vaugely decided upon the following deadlines and outputs:
1. The first three milestones will be acheived as follows:
Milestone 1: March 15
Milestone 2: March 23
Milestone 3: by the end of March.
2. We will visit Mr. Nouman Sheikh in the first week of April to share our working project.
3. We intend to develop a solution such that will run on any system
having .NET platform and SQL Server 2005 installed on it (we will
later test it on SQL Server 2008, but since we have ready access to
the 2005 environment we will develop a tool using the 2005 version).
4. The solution will be developed on VB.NET and the final deliverable
will be an application deployable universally on Windows platform.
There will be several queries in between aimed at improving the
quality of the product. We hope to coordinate with Mr. Sajid Bandey to
make this project a mutual success.
As of today, 24th March 2010, we have successfully completed the five points or tiers that were expected of us. By 29th March InshAllah, our work till yet would be ready to be shown to Mr. Nouman Sheikh for further development. The major features that our software in totally should hold are listed below which have been completed.
a. A GUI for a user to enter basic table information
b. Tool will generate SQL code for the given table to profile its data
c. The code can then be taken out to a database server to run
d. The output of the SQL code should be a structured text file
the screenshots of the work done so far incorporating the above mentioned features have been put up in the page 'screenshots.' They are not final but reflect the amount of work done till yet.
